The Real Threat to America’s National Security
China recently successfully tested a satellite missile defense system, some feel that China is the greatest threat to the National Security of America, this may be true but the failure to equip children with the knowledge to survive in a global society is an equal threat to the National Security of America.
Drug abuse and the rise of sexually transmitted diseases; such as Aids is an indication that the media, the home and the religious community has failed to communicate the true dangers of drug abuse and the deadly effects of illicit sexually activity.
America seems to be asleep at the wheel when it comes to addressing youth issues and concerns. The citizens of America will awake one day and find out that a lack of adequate information and education are the leading factors that have devastated the lives of countless young people. Statistics indicate that children respond to effective teaching programs that address drug and sexual matters.
Many movies on the big screen and small screen glorify drug abuse and illicit sexual activity to the point where the consequences and the stigma of the behavior has been detached for the purpose of increasing profits. A disconnect between fantasy and reality has trapped many young people in an endless cycle of drug dependency and sexual immorality.
In this age of technology, positive information that impact youth is essential such as a need for predator avoidance information because there has been an alerting increase of sexual offenders. Unfortunately the danger of sexual predators is usually only emphasized when an innocent child has been killed or kidnapped. It is time for the media, the church, and the family to switch from being reactive to proactive when it comes to making the public aware of sexual predators, for instances children need to know the profile of sexual predators which is usually a normal looking person who looks like the person who lives next door.
The abuse of children has gotten out of hand, it is time to do some soul searching to find out what is going on within our society were many grown men and women feel that it okay to sexually abuse children.
